Off The Job Hours

What is it?

Off the job training is learning which takes place outside of the normal day to day duties which supports achieving the apprenticeship.

A minimum of 6 hours is required to be completed during paid, contracted, working hours.

What counts as off the job training?

  • Lectures at college
  • Tutorials at work
  • Writing assignments
  • Working on your portfolio/NPL
  • Being mentored
  • Shadowing a colleague at work
  • Online learning
  • CPD
  • Webinars
  • Lunch & learns
  • Additional learning support
  • Visiting other practices

What isn't classed as off the job hours?

  • Learner reviews
  • Progress reviews
  • Training that doesn't contribute towards the apprenticeship
